Fee schedules for health providers are developed by WorkCover SA in conjunction with your professional association.  Fees for health providers are regulated by parliament after consultation with the specific representative associations and employer and employee stakeholders.

Item numbers

When preparing an account for a workers compensation claimant you must use the correct item numbers and charge at the scheduled fee. The fee schedules include the maximum fees payable for specific services to workers compensation patients. If a provider charges more than the current fee WorkCover can reduce the charge.

Please note you may be liable for penalty under the Act if you knowingly overcharge for services provided to claimants.

New services

If a cost has been incurred by a worker for something that is not an existing service item, the claims agent will need to assess the appropriateness of the service. The Agent may refer to WorkCover to obtain approval for payment of the service.
